Lean
Non-For-Profit
The non-for-profit sector is experiencing similar but somewhat
different challenges than other businesses. Their staff is
expected to do more with less resources and technology while
having to improve overall quality of their services. The cost
of doing business is increasing while their revenues and available
Government programs are decreasing.
We
applied lean six sigma to a non-for-profit organization that
manages group homes and several other community related support
services. Our approach was to teach some of the basic Lean
and Six Sigma methodologies and tools and challenge the teams
to choose improvement projects in their own areas of responsibility.
The teams made significant measurable improvements in cost
reduction, improved process turn around time, simplifying
processes and forms, reduced turnover and improved customer
and consumer satisfaction.
